The simple bliss of the KSA (Karplus Strong Algorithm)
Greetings, friends.
I would like to pose a question concerning the 'hallowed' KSA.
I've am trying to develop a polyphonic implementation of the KSA, but am such a 'noob' that I needed help to get it running at all.
My question concerns with the quality of the 'tone' that this algorithm produces.
To my mind, there is something that feels more LIVELY than any of the .au plugins I own; such as Native Complete, Arturia (all), Uhe Diva & Zebra, and more. I've spent over a grand (£s) and yet this tiny algorithm is more fun to play with than anything else I might have.
The folder containing all of the binary patches is just over 41 Kb in size.
That's 41 KILObytes!
I'm a little worried that my response might be only due to the placebo effect of adopting a new approach to audio programming.
That's all folks. Kindest Regards,
MGCaverly.
Thank you Sebastien, that sound is brilliant!
The tonal response from the KS is so rich. For bases, pianos, organs, (probably) guitar;- actually, probably anything; when used as an exciter.
I'm not even a 'toddler' when it comes to using Max/MSP, in-fact not even a 'crawler', yet, but something about KS stimulates my brain, and I will be endeavouring to pick-apart the .zip you posted (and I found that help file!). As for [gen~] ... that might have to wait a bit, I'm so excited I have to stop myself from balls-ing it up.
At least until I can crawl ... lol
Many thanks,
Mikey.
