8 channel sfplay~ and sfrecord~ Maxmsp freezes (bug?)
Hello,
I am encountering a crash while using sfplay~ to play an 8-channel file and recording its output at the same time with sfrecord~. I've made a little patch to demonstrate it. It could have something to do with long sound-files (e.g. around 2 mins) and/or 96k sampling rate.
Here is what I do:
1- load an 8 channel sound-file
2- open a file to record to
3- enable sfrecord~
4- start playback
sometimes it's OK at other times the [playbar] object gets stuck and finally max will freeze and I have to force quit. Please contact me if you need any of my sound files but as far as I can tell there is nothing wrong with the files.
I'm also attaching my crash report.
Any help will be appreciated.
Also if it's helpful here is the error I get in the console (this second error appears when the play-bar gets stuck).

Sorry but I'm going to give a little nudge here.
This is a bug report and any reply from cycling74 would be much appreciated. If I am mistaken then please feel free to tell me!
This is still happening and I cannot find a workaround. I have increased the buffer size but not much change.

Keeps happening. There is a problem when reading and writing 8 channel files from/to disk at the same time.
For support from Cycling'74, it's best to contact them by mailing to support@cycling74.com.
Thanks I will!
Best,
Peiman
So I get no replies even after writing to support@cycling74.com.
This is ridiculous. Is there no support? Is there no one to respond to bug reports?
Have you tried doing the same thing *without* using playbar (which appears to be designed for qt movies back in the day)?
i don´t know your specific problem, but i have at many times had sfplay play back large (longer than 10 min) 12-ch files in installations.
would it be an option trying to record to an attached external disk?
wirting/reading might be overload for the internal disk.
