any way to get round Jitter
unless i'm missing something you won't need firewire capability for what you're doing. just use the standard movie object and output from the computer to video projector as normal.
Build a standalone with the Jitter demo that plays movies the way you
want to, don't forget some sync/control/... inputs via OSC/Midi/...

Yes but that would mean i'd have to use the window of the movie object as a
second screen, wouldn't it ?
too bad, i do not have a video projector at home to test this...

i have used the movie-object for a fullscreen-presentation on an old
lombard-powerbook, iirc. (under system 9.2.2 that was)
turned off menubar.
behind the scenes was a heavy patch working (applescript controling
btv, recording webcam-frames, which were shown later on the screen,
then disposed and trashed, some audio-processing, all sensor-controled.)
worked flawlessly for a whole day without crashing.
was for my installation arbeit / schoenheit (labor) http://www.hans-w-
koch.net/installations/arbeit.html
i could dig that out, if helpful.

ok, will try on the weekend, that patch is a bloody mess...
at a first look i saw, i was using the movie++ object (http://
www.watson.org/~mrjester/max/) for its enhanced cpabilities.
nowadays i think i would go the jitter road too.
