care to comment on when MAX will be 64-bit and therefore when we'll get 64-bit M4L to go along with the newly announced Live 64-bit?

I thought Max6 worked with 64bits.

@leehu, this is really interesting news. i was not expecting it at all actually (i had been assuming even live9 would still be 32 bit!). however, i doubt if cycling74 will put a public date on 64-bit max.

@alersito, max6 is a 32 bit application with all those limitations. it is just that signal rate communication in max6 is 64-bit, enabling high timing accuracy. all max objects work with 64 bit doubles internally, and gen too, but not the whole application.

I don't expect Cycling to reply, either, but I would be very surprised if there isn't some kind of coordinated effort between Ableton and Cycling.

It's not as if MaxForLive is just an incidental piece of software. In fact, Ableton has done quite a bit to push it (though I expect the user base to be pretty modest), so if Ableton were to go ahead and release a finished 8.4 without a 64-bit MaxForLive/Max ... well, that would just be poor planning.

I'd be very surprised if they replied too :)

Interesting point about the finished 8.4 though, it's a reasonable thing to expect
