auto cable alignment in 5.06 faulty?
Has anyone else noticed that when using [command y to auto align connections in Max 5.06, that the collision detection isn't working very well?
It used to be that connections would navigate around any and all objects (sometimes in quite convoluted ways), but all I seem to be getting now is basic 3 or 4 segment connections, with the cables running over the top of objects in the way - it's as if it has gone back to Max 4 behaviour.
This is on a MacBook Pro, latest OS etc. This behaviour started after updating to max 5.06

Cmd-Opt-Y.
There are now two (two! two!) Alignment options at the top of the Arrange menu.

Exactly.-)
The overwhelming response to Max 5 "smart patch cord alignment", at least what I've read here and on other lists, was that it warn't all that smart. So now the people who pleaded for a return to Max 4-style patch cord alignment are happy and the people who actually liked the new algorithm can be happy, too. After an initial moment of confusion.
PS: Doncha hate the board text formatting features?
Ah! So I guess it's time to read the Changes document ...
Hmm, not sure I would have picked that up anyway.

I like the new 'smart' alignment... but I like having options even more! That is what max is all about. :0
