Looking for something that is a bit more flexible and dynamic than waveform~.

One example of something I would like to accomplish:

You have a one bar sample loaded into buffer~. You change the start time to the second quarter note. The second quarter note then lines up at the start of the waveform display and first quarter note gets tacked onto the end. So the full loop is displayed, but it's offset.

The waveform~ in this instance is really only being used for display purposes.

Maybe there is something I'm missing in the waveform~ reference? Maybe this isn't possible at all?

It is unfortunately important that everything lines up to zero.

A nudge in the right direction would be of great assistance.

better-than-waveform

Just brainstorming, but you could create another buffer that contains a copy of the audio, but shift the second buffer in accordance with the start time. Just attach the waveform to the second buffer.

You could easily do the slice/copy stuff with gen~ or even javascript, since it's not part of the audio stream.

An easy solution would be to just have a "display" waveform/buffer that has the contents of your buffer duplicated (so the buffer always contains twice the material in your "real" buffer). Then you just use the start/end markers to "wrap" back around.

One of those "outside the box" things my brain cramped up on.
