If I make a patch that contains a javascript with this single line:

var window = new JitterObject("jit.window","myWindow");

and save it, the window is created, and everything is just fine.

But then when I go to build a standalone application, I get these error messages:

? error: patcher: missing arguments for message "close"

? error: jsjitterobject_Constructor: null class pointer jit_window

? error: patcher: missing arguments for message "close"
? error: jit.window: No such object
? error: jsjitterobject_Constructor: null class pointer jit_window

Did you include jitlib in the collective editor?

Yes, I included all the files mentioned in "Appendix D: Building Standalone Applications with Jitter", for both jitter + javascript.

I've built standalones successfully before; it seems to be the specific inclusion of a javascript-instantiated jit.window that causes the errors.

You also need to include jit.window and all objects referenced in 

your javascript file. Otherwise the class is not present to be 

instantiated. Patchers know which objects they contain and add them 

to the collective for you, but javascript files do not.

Where is Appendix D? my jitter documentation only goes to "C"?

maybe I'm missing something fundamental here but I've just downloaded all the jitter documentation for mac and there is no Appendix D to be found?

I just looked at my docs. I have an appendix D. The create date on

the file is 9/20/05. What are you downloading from the C74 site?

Yes. Thank you, Joshua. Your answer with respect to including all of the objects created by the javascript file solved my standalone issues as well, 7 years on! Once again, the forum search box has proven to be my friend... :~)
