Custom clippings folder?

Can i add other locations for max to use clippings from? I'd prefer not to save my patches in the max program folder (and even if i would, i get an error regardng lack of rights if i do want to save files there).

At this point, all clippings need to be in the Max app folder. I know that this can be an inconvenience for a variety of reasons, and it is something that is on the radar as something to improve.

I suppose it would be too much to hope for to add support for aliases. It would be a reasonably elegant way for the user to put things where he or she wants to and have, say, a folder alias in patches/clippings/

I understand supporting aliases (and links on Windows) is non-trivial. But they are very useful things to have!

Bumping this, to follow up and ask, if this is officially supported:

Right now, as of max 6.1.3, *any* folder named "clippings" inside the search path of max will show up in the paste-from menu, and pasting from it works

Is this officially supported? Tell me it's so... (he pled on a saturday!)

hah, strange. What i know is that a named 'clippings' folder inside a max package folder (ie not for instance /Packages/clippings, but rather /Packages/apackagefolder/clipping) is bound to work.

Yeah, I'm not complaining, haha!

This allows us to sync BEAP and such over our google drive system, so everyone in the group has the same patches - this is brilliant.
It also allows us to actually do our own system now.

Is that true ? I, with 6.13, still have the occasional behaviour of having the clippings greyed out as if I had another clippings folder in my search path.

I experienced crashing whenever I right-clicked that I managed to resolve by removing a custom clippings folder (stored in my Documents folder) from my Max file paths. So I wouldn't trust any clippings path other than those in the Max folder and those in standalones.
