drum game

hi everyone...

for my interactive audio project at university, i have opted to do a rhythm action drum game, in a rock-band esque fashion...

i have a roland td-6k midi triggers, and want to be able to trigger samples from each pad...

could anyone point me in the right direction or show me any downloadable templates that would help me with my project...

any help would be greatly appreciated..

thanks

Hi,

Do you have any experience with Max? Answer depends on your level.

ctlin from the pads, use select or route for the pad number, these then play back samples from sfplay~ or groove~. This kind of thing is a snap in Max...

hi, thanks for your replies.

i currently dont have any experience in Max, except for running through the tutorials within my university...

i've found these tutorials helpful, but was wondering if there were any tutorials tailored more towards what i'm doing..

First look at the MIDI tutorials in the Max documentation.

Then look at the soundfile tutorials in the MSP documentation (groove~, play~ and sfplay~ are your friends).

Then you might wish to use route, select, trigger etc... to link this all together.

This should be very easy to get basic system if you have done the tutorials.

i have the basic framework of triggering the samples down now, thanks for your help.

my main concern now is that i want the concept to be that you play along with a track and then get graded on your performance...

i need to be able to compare what was played by the user, and what should have been played...

anyone having any suggestions of how to go about this?

seq & follow are pretty useful if you're going to use midi.

qlist, coll, timer, counter if you fancy rolling your own.
