Yes, this happens to me too (Max 5.0.1, 2008 Macbook Pro). Instead of playing the sample back at a new pitch when you click on the kslider, the grains play back with a chromatic pitch cluster – the range bar seems to be hooked into the kslider. I hacked this patch to make a microtonal version using midicents (midi note 64.15, for instance, instead of 64). To get it to do what I wanted, I disabled the range bar, and made the kslider display only.
If you dig inside the granularized patch and rgrano.maxpat, its embedded bpatcher, you might be able to fix it to do what you want. Unfortunately I can only use the runtime version of 4.6, so I can’t open the previous version of rgrano. I think if you could compare the two, you would find something is connected differently.
