How to make a cossover ?

Hi,

I want to simulate a crossover for testing loudspeakers. I did some patches with 2 filtergraph (1 lowpass and 1 highpass centered a the same freq), but the result is a very thin sound...
I looked at the result with a filtergraph in display mode and it looks what I ear : a dramatic filter.

I don't understand why the sum the lowpass and highpass is not the full signal (at least not so far away)?

Any help would be appreciate !!!

And I'm with MAXMSP 4.5

Try cross~, which is a well hidden standard object.

It looks like it has been forgot when Cycling74 did their documentation as I can't find it in any "see also" section, not in the "New object" filter section. It"s still the case with Max5.

Well, we can certainly fix that oversight....

@ Patrick Delges : thx for cross~ !!!

but :
1 it's only 3rd order filters, I can't test 1st and 2nd order.
2 I still don't understand why the filtergraph don't do the job ?

Any idea ?

have you considered building an FFT crossover? a good starting point would possibly be the forbidden planet example.

@ the_man361 : yes, but I don't know how to tune the order. What I was able to do was to sharp, sort of 10th order or so...
