I managed to put my hands on a machine with Tiger and Max/MSP 4.5.4 and the patch works as it should. So it seems to be related to the XP implementation.

This is definitely a problem. I'm running the same set up, but with whatever crappy sound card shipped with this Dell. It works fine on my iBook.

I don't have any life-threatening latency or timing issues to worry about at the moment, but it would be nice to see this fixed eventually. Unfortunately some of us do still have to run Windows.

Nope - Still a problem for me in win 7 & Max 5.01. Only crashes some patches. I guess theres particular object(s) that cause the problem. For example, the FTM gabor analysis example patch crashes immediately if overdrive is on.

Update to Max 5.1.7:

If you are still having problems, figure out if it is a third party object that is causing the issue. If it is, drop them a line. If it appears to be something else, post back with some steps to reproduce and a simple patch.

Thanks,

I stumbled upon this problem when trying out the js object. Unless I'm missing something obvious it seems there's still a problem on Max 5.1.9 on Windows 7 when calling from a metro and using Overdrive.

Max Patch
Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.

This patch demonstrates the problem:

and the contents of the threadtest.js file is as follows:

function bang() {
    outlet(0, "bang");
}

bang.immediate = 1;
