I'm sorry to resort to having to ask on the forums, but I'm going out of my mind here with what is I think a simple problem.

I want to create a standalone application using Max 7 to run on OSX - this standalone includes some custom java classes.

I used to do this under Max 6 following the instructions in the standalone documentation, and it worked fine. Reading the Max 7 standalone documentation it appears to be unchanged, but the problem is following this line of advice:

"Copy the file java/lib/max.jar from the Cycling '74 folder inside the Max application folder to {Package}/Contents/support/java/lib/max.jar"

Where is the Cycling '74 folder? There isn't one in the Max application folder, as the folder no longer exists. Am I missing something?!

the max.jar can be found here (right-click on the Max application, and select "Show Package Contents":

/Applications/Max.app/Contents/Resources/C74/packages/max-mxj/java-classes/lib/max.jar

i'm not entirely sure where it should go, but i would first try:

your-app.app/Contents/Resources/C74/support/java/lib/max.jar

your-app.app/Contents/Resources/C74/packages/max-mxj/java-classes/lib/max.jar

if the folder doesn't exist at the path, just make one before copying.

please send a message to support (click the support link above) to let them know the documentation is incorrect.

Glad to know I wasn't just going mad. Following your lead, I've found that max.jar is already installed in the executable at

my-app.app/Contents/Resources/C74/java-classes/lib

- so I've dropped the lib I wanted to add in there, and the custom classes at

my-app.app/Contents/Resources/C74/java-classes/classes

Not sure if this is the correct protocol, but it seems to work. I will file a report with the page you linked to so that the documentation can be updated.
