low resolution camera capture on PC

very strange problem, and very hard to google...slim chance someone here's been through this, but i'll give it a shot.

i have a jitter app running on OSX that exports images from a jit.qt.grab object at different resolutions. i'm using a logitech quickcam pro 9000.

i need to run this on a PC(XP) (woe is me), so i'm using jit.dx.grab. the problem: i can't get my camera to capture above 320x240 in jitter. i can create a higher-res jit.dx.grab object and jit.window, no problem, but the contents in the output matrix are all downsampled and pixellated and craptastic.

i can capture images at whatever resolution i please in the logitech driver software.

haven't had a chance to try swapping cameras yet (don't have another on me).

tried installing winvdig and using jit.qt.grab; at first, no love, but then the processing forums told me i should drop winvdig v1.04/05 and stick with 1.01. downgraded and got the camera to connect okay (at a much lower framerate, but whatever), but still have the 320x240 max res problem.

so, at this point, the only thing i can think to try is a different camera, which i will as soon as i can.
any other suggestions?

sorry for the arcane problem....
thx,
-eric

Hi Eric,

Recently a friend of mine tells that this cam only works under OSX.
I don't know if it is true but you should check it up.

definitely not the case. logitech only offers their software for the 9000 for XP/Vista. however, on OSX it's plug-and-play, which is a good thing because logitech doesn't have any OSX drivers for the 9000

i tried exporting images with the logitech both before and after installing logitech's software, however, and got the same result in both cases. i think that what logitech offers for the 9000 is not drivers, but is actually just camera software, and doesn't really affect the camera's settings in other applications.

thanks for the post, though.
