Making a Max Standalone app on a Mac Guide?

Hi, i'm new to MaxMSP and have just made my first patch. I want to turn this into a standalone app so it can be used without MaxMSP being installed. How do i do this? I've tried going to "Build collective / application" and selecting "Application" as the format in the save window but all i end up with is a .mxf file, not a .app. Btw i'm running the 5.1.8 demo and am on a Lion 10.7 Macbook Pro. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks

Can anyone help me with this?
I've spent hours reading other threads on here and what people have said doesn't work. All i end up with is a .mxf file, not a .app ??

SOLVED!!!!

After spending the better half of a day on this i have finally solved what is going on! My file name was too long, which for some reason stopped the "Format" selection at the bottom of the save screen from working properly!

Has anyone else come across this at all?

The maximum characters that i can have in my filename to make a standalone app is 26. If i have anything over that amount then no matter what i select in the bottom "Format" (Collective / Application) drop down doesn't work, it just produces a .mxf file.

But if i change my file name to something that is 26 characters or less, when selecting "Application" from the "Format" drop down menu then it does get saved as a .app.

I would still like to hear from others if this is a bug in the Max app or just me with this problem?

I don't know, to be fair I'd always just thought it was more or less common sense not to name your apps with crazy long file names... not judging, just saying never came across this.

And that's why the forums are here. Now we know. :)
