Max 4 Live 6.1.5 Crashing on Mavericks

Nov 18 2013 | 1:20 am

It’s funny because I managed to build a fairly complex patch over the last week yet in the last couple days it’s been harder and harder to do anything without it crashing. The patch plays fine in Live but opening the Max GUI causes a crash every time now within seconds of the main window opening. Some select details from the crash report…

…Everytime now it’s the same callstack with the crash on the `messagebuffer_readmessage` function. Hope this helps. I’m on a Macbook Pro Retina 15"

FYI I think this was Jitter related. Another patch I had in the Live project must have had Jitter components as I was seeing Jitter messages on the console. I created a new project with just my patch in it and all seems fine again.

I’m having exactly the same problem, 3 years later. Even with the same line numbers on the thread:
Thread 47 Crashed:
0 com.cycling74.MaxAudioAPI 0x000000011ecb39a4 messagebuffer_readmessage + 24
1 com.cycling74.MaxAudioAPI 0x000000011ecb1b86 messagebuffer_read + 134
2 com.cycling74.MaxAudioAPI 0x000000011ecb4744 plugrunner_sendmessageevents + 97
3 com.cycling74.MaxAudioAPI 0x000000011ecb53f2 plugrunner_servicescheduler + 336
4 com.cycling74.MaxAudioAPI 0x000000011ecb5271 plugrunner_process + 205
5 com.cycling74.MaxAudioAPI 0x000000011ecb57a4 plugrunner_devicethreadfun + 82
6 com.cycling74.Max 0x000000010c889cd4 systhread_threadproc + 64
7 libsystem_pthread.dylib 0x00007fff8697905a _pthread_body + 131
8 libsystem_pthread.dylib 0x00007fff86978fd7 _pthread_start + 176
9 libsystem_pthread.dylib 0x00007fff869763ed thread_start + 13

It is happening on a max for live device when I open the device in Max and touch a patch cord. Also running OS 10.10, with Live 9.6.1, Max 7.2.2. If anyone has seen this please post and let me know if you’ve learned anything about it!
