MAX/MSP virtual MIDI ports on Windows
Hi all,
I would like to ask you, if there is exactly the same behavior on Windows, how it works on Mac.
If I create an MAX/MSP application, and export it as an application, there are two virtual MIDI ports created by MAX on the Mac OS X. So I can use these two virtual MIDI ports to send data from my application to the other one software.
Does it work exactly the same on Windows too, please? Or what should I do to get these virtual MIDI ports on Windows too? Or are there MIDI ports for using with hardware only, on the Windows?
Thanks + cheers,
Martin
Max creates two virtual ports on Windows 7 but I have not been able to get them to do anything. I have a Max patch sending MIDI and a Reaktor Ensemble listening... but it finds nothing.
Someone wiser than me needs to reply.
Max doesn't do this on Windows. http://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/loopmidi.html
is your answer.
I use loopMIDI - does the same as LoopBe - I think you have to pay for LoopBe for more than a certain number of ports?
Hi all,
I have used LoopBe for a while. It's an easy solution to get 1 in 1 out but with a very frustrating issue: the MIDI connection is turn off if more than 3.5 kps is passing through (or something like that). And in my case, it's too easy to exceed this limit. With LoopBe 30, you can disable this "shortcut" function, but it's not free (20 bucks, not very expansive). The virtual MIDI port pointed by David and the ability of max to crate virtual MIDI ports seems to be the best solution:https://cycling74.com/docs/max5/vignettes/core/max_and_other_apps.html
LoopMIDI is just so great as an easy solution to create virtual MIDI ports,
Thanks !
It is great - just a shame it's not multi-client... Have emailed the dev about this a couple of times but never had any response :(
