Mira wishlist
I just got my first iPad (mini). And of course because of Mira...
I guess others come across some wishes for UI objects to be supported in the future.
By the way, my priority for waveform is pretty low, as updating waveform~ via the connection would be a nightmare cpu wise anyway, and I am using a multislider instead for displaying waveforms. Some things can be tackled with the existing objects...
Any hints how to find workarounds for my wishlist objects are welcome as well...
My list:
LCD because with that I could create anything which is missing...
nslider because I do music and notes are a common way to show musicians what to play...
pictslider because I could design my own controls
function because its obvious...;-)
And I wish the arrangement of Mira objects would be the same as in Max. If I move an object to the front in Max, it doesn't change on the iPad. I have to cut and then paste to get an object into a correct order...
just some ideas...
Stefan
Hello,
I agree with Stephan's wish list.
And what about an equivalent of Lemur's Multiball?
I realized that I could easily manage several [node] objects with a single Multiball object displayed on an iPad via Mira... I suppose this solution would be faster than displaying several [node] via Mira...

+1 for pictslider.
pictctrl would be awesome too!
textedit!!!
All great suggestions. But to me most importent would be MPC style pads and a multi column and multi row matrix object, that can be set to radio mode (only one otpion selectable). To make it real simple: I would like Mira to get all objects needed to replace Lemur ...
When will the new update come?
+ 1 for LCD
+1 for jit.cellblock
+ 1 for LCD. That would be awesome!
+1 for textedit or an object that spawns the built in ipad keyboard and pushes text to the maxpatch. Having to build a keyboard from scratch with a bunch of live.text objects seems like a unnecessary workaround.
I would like a latch function for mira.multitouch and graphic feedback on the iPad.
Not sure I know how to explain this correctly, but on the computer, circles apear in the multitouch object in max. I would like to see these circles on the iPad. And I would like a way to have them stay there and be able to grab them again. For instance if each finger is assigned to a single instance in a poly~ patcher, I can grab that finger and modify that instance.
Does this make sense? :)
Relative Sliders (like in TouchOSC)
z messages (like in touchosc)
bpatcher support
nodes support
tab support
allow live.tab to be renamed and to set rows and columns
sadly, although mira has lots of cool stuff, it would take all these things to get me to switch from the $4.99 touchOSC
Hello BENJ3737 and all,
live.tab can actually be renamed by using some (secret) message.
Have a look at this:
Is this what you are looking for?
Best wishes,

sorry...the code in my last post was incomplete...
here is a better version:
Pardon me if I've mentioned this or if it has been mentioned, but I'd like an option to make the tabs bigger or smaller. I've had occasions when jamming with a few Mira patches and I need to jump to another one and it's hard to do quickly when they are quite small. In fact, at the risk of over inflating the whole thing, being able to have them at the bottom and colour code them would be great. the iPad isn't quite the visceral controller, you have to be careful with it, so having option at the top of the screen feels risky when your raving it up, I've touched controls on the screen by mistake when switching tabs. Otherwise I love it.
Also I'd like pict slider so I can litter my patches with xy pads.
Rave on.
Ned.
you can change the size of the tabs with the patching_rect or presentation_rect message (depending whether you use the patching or presentation mode in your mira setup.
This can also be used to change the position of the live.tab
Changing colors is easy too... (see my example for details.)
Instead of pict slider you could use mira.multitouch ...
Hope that helps,
best,
Johannes
Hi i think it´s now time to had some new objets available to mira. As it is on the market for at least one year it will be great to get most of the objets that max has ( the ones that can be gui ) in the instalation object list. I will not list preferences, but what you can make will be really nice.
It'd be nice to change the vertical width of the tab buttons. My fingers are too fat to select the tab sometimes! Btw, loving Mira in general. Best controller I've ever used!
hmmm...but thats exactly what my example shows...or am I understanding something wrong?
Hi Mira team, first of all, thanks so much for this wonderful tool - I got it in August, used it in a studio session only two days later and have since used it with several groups and projects. On the top of wishlist for future object additions is the matrixctrl object. I use it for a variety of stepsequencer-esque purposes and having it on my ipad would not only allow me to move all my patch controls to the ipad screen but also free up my laptop screen for other software interfaces, which would be especially handy in a live context. I second the various requests for pictslider and pictctrl as well.
Hi DJ. I should have clarified, I meant the tabs that control Mira's current tab (frame?).
But...after practicing awhile, switching between tabs, I'm thinking the tab width might be fine. I just need to be deliberate when pressing the buttons.
Your patch is really cool though. Interesting possibilities...
+1 for nslider and lcd
Mira is awesome!! thanks for your work
it would great to add a few objects like the abovementioned ones
and somehow add consistency to the list of supported objects. Like why live.meter~ is not supported while meter~ is, and why live.text is supported while textbutton is not?
Changing dynamically a mira.frame's background color would be an great feature too.
Thanks again,
Florent
Portrait Orientation!
USB support :-)
+1 jit.cellblock, or any jitter objects in general. I'd take a CPU hit to get a small jit.pwindow on my iPad!!
+100 for Notation viewing. Ideally the Bach.roll and bach.score objects.
jit.pwindow! bach.roll!
jit.pwindow!
I would like to have a multitouch control over jit.phys.picker while seeing what and where to touch...
I have been using the Max Mira combo in a project exploring interactive and animated graphic notation for improvising ensembles. One significant problem we have experienced is that MIRA are crashing quite often when loading different pictures into fpic dynamically. To overcome this I guess a very useful feature would be to be able to upload pictures o the iPad and call them internally, rather than having to rely solely on mirroring from the computer screen. Same sort of support for movie clips would also be great. And of course +1 for notation viewing as well... :-)
+2 ?:) for textedit or an object that spawns the built in ipad keyboard and pushes text to the maxpatch.
- fullscreen / way to hide mira tab bar and menu button from Max
is there gonna be an update at some point?
@Florent Ghys : Sure is a 'feature request'...
No update for over a year and 8 months, several unresolved confirmed bugs and still charging £40 for it!
at least bpatcher support would have been nice by now.
i'm not a huge fan of open source, but now that afaik apple is allowing anyone to load their own programs w/o paying for dev license seems like it'd be a good way to get around some of the limitations and hassles of the app store. charge for year of non-forum support instead? although i dunno how much has to be done internally to max itself.
more than touch interaction i'd be into mira as a way to offload visuals/ monitoring information. iOS seems good at handling gpu stuff without a ton of heat.. i use a lot of that when prototyping a patch to see that things are going as expected, but visual updates within max environment give very inflated sense of cpu usage. :) then there's the issue of putting my monitoring apparatuses into separate window/patch means more window management or if i put it right into the patch it's more housekeeping to clean up later...let it handle visual updates of number~, multislider, scope~, message, toggle, etc.
it'd also me useful to me to show and interact with independent console, inspector and reference materials w/o taking over mouse cursor.
+1 for LCD!
Music notation in Mira and MiraWeb? http://www.computermusicnotation.com/?page_id=1375#Mira
+1 pictslider
+1 bpatcher
+1 nodes
Audio output from Max on the iPad!
Would be great to be able to have a dedicated output object, say a stereo stream, that is streamed directly to the iPad for wireless monitoring with headphones.
+1 textbutton
heavy +1 for bPatcher support. Mira functionality increase 1000x when you can have nested, modular UIs
