I am currently working on a sort of large, improv/composition patch and would like to include some synthesis options.
I feel like I know how to get a polyphonic synth happening, but I wanted to also create a mono synth with some flexibility.
Basically kill two birds with one stone.
I’d like to have the option to use my synth made up of three or four oscillators as both a drone and a standard mono synth with envelopes and what not.
I think I could switch between the drone and amplitude envelope functions pretty easily (just a gate~ or something), but I am not sure how to get a good mono synth going without the pops and clicks. Maybe want some glide in there…
Would ddg.mono accomplish this? Does it work in Max 5 and Leopard?
I’d like to use the function objects as well, so I have even more control over the shape of the notes (as opposed to adsr~).
Just point me in the direction of a tutorial or something. Thanks!
Although unrelated in its premise, this patch:
has a subpatcher
in it which shows a good way of quickly creating a synth with the function editor.
Then, beyond that, you can look at Max5/examples/synth
for all kinds of synth ideas along with Darwin’s synth tutorials on the site.
When you get to a certain point of having most elements in place, you could attach it to a post on this thread or a new one and i’m sure someone will be able to guide you further(especially if you’re having trouble performing switching without click/pops).
