just to let you know i have posted up a monome/live application called monoive. this is also my first application in a way that i have posted up.
it was originally created by markos kohler. but i took it, tore iy apart and made it link with ableton a lot better, although the tempo link is not finished. you have to change it on both the application and live.

you can probably use monoive with other host applications, i have not tried myself.
but basically, run your monome serial, start monoive, then live and off you go.
