Msp and acoustical perception
Bit of a silly question. But I am looking to do an Msc in Acoustics in the near future and am wondering if you think Max Msp will be some of the software used for measuring sound also is there other software out there that will also be used.
Thanks for the help and if anyone has any background of the above subject I would greatly appreciate their feedback. Thanks
I would imagine that Acoustisoft ETF and Metric Halo Spectrafoo will at least be mentioned.
I think you could use max/msp, but it would probably require some heavy FFT-work to set up something with similar functionality to the above software.
As someone working with a lot of acousticians, I can say you'd be the first to use Max MSP for an Msc in Acoustics that I know of.
Software for measurements and acoustics evaluations are more likely to be similar to Artemis from Head Acoustics PAK from Müller BBM (these two German toolkits are used extensively in this department) and the more expensive stuff you may find here: http://forum.studiotips.com/viewtopic.php?t=151
Cheers for the feedback guys sorry for late reply getting back to you both. But thanks once again for the insight.
