I am creating a .mxf Jitter Application on my OSX Intel MAC. I am trying to open and play this application on my PC laptop.
When I try to open the file on my laptop, my computer won’t automatically open it and wants me to "choose the application which created it"—impossible because I don’t have MAX/MSP on my PC.
Shouldn’t I be able to open this .mxf file on my PC? Do I need to export it differently or open it differently?
you’ll need to install max on your pc.
if you don’t want to install the whole package, you can install
runtime only – it means you can open and "play" files, but you can’t

.mxf isn’t an application, its a collective which requires at least a
Max/MSP runtime (its free)
You can also build applications, but you would need a full PC version of
Max on a PC to build it. applications on PC’s have usually a .exe
