navigate in max?
When I search in max using ‘find’ for a specific object , max finds the object and highlights it when opening up the specific patcher window with which it is contained.
With my project i have patcher’s that are inside patcher’s that are also inside patcher’s. can be quite deep in areas.
so when the find function opens up the specific patcher window, I have no real idea of where I am.
Is there a way to navigate ‘up’ a level, so i can find my way back to the main patch window? like you would in windows (eg: you are inside a folder and you can go up until you reach your main drive icon) Or is there a way to view the hierarchy that a selected patcher is connected to? Perhaps info on where a specific patcher is located? Like in windows explorer?
thanks for support.
Second icon from the left in the toolbar at the bottom of your window.
i can’t see it in 5.1. Maybe this is only for max6?
Oh, Max 5. Well, then it’s Option-Click on sub-patcher name in the title bar. If you’re on Windows, presumably Alt-Click.
Next time, please say so up front. How is anyone supposed to know what version you’re using, particularly when it’s not current? Expecting people to guess is just wasting everyone’s time.
As an aside, I just tried to launch Max 5 (5.1.7) on my current machine (quad core iMac), only to discover that it doesn’t seem to get on with Mountain Lion (Mac OS X 10.8.5). It launches, but the only items in the menu bar are the Apple and App menus. No File, Edit, View & friends. Does anybody reading know if this is a known limitation? Fixed by a later 5.1.x update? I’m not using the 5-ball much at all, but from time to time it’s necessary to do a compatibility test.
MaxMSP 5.1.9 does work here under OSX.8.5
yes, holding alt and clicking the left mouse button on the sub patcher title (top left bar), info is shown as to the sub patchers location (max 5.1 & windows).
Thanks for the information, Patrick! Obviously, I should have updated long ago.
