Take a look at the tutorials- they are extremely well-constructed and will get you started from the ground up, whether you have experience programming/using computers, or not. You may also want to take a look at the help files for objects that you are having difficulty wrapping your head around. But first describe what type of project you are trying to accomplish and someone can help point you in the right direction!

Hi

I was thinking of building a drum machine.
I am not sure how or where to begin.
Also i would like to make a "unique" machine any ideas?

Thanks!!!!!!!

well, i have built my fair share of sequencers, both with FM signal and samples. and obviously effects

but the few main things that do always pop up in use for a sequencer is [counter], [metro], and [transport]

the [counter] would be for the amount of steps to 'count' in the sequence. the [metro] with say an argument of 4n/16n, will keep it synced with that speed, so if you decide to link it. and the [transport], well thats pretty self explanatory

i know i may not be saying exactly what kind of patch you should start with. but there are plenty of things on this forum, which i am most likely the person starting them some many months ago, in sequencing and even linking to daw systems.
but really, if you do a search in the forums, you will more than most likely find what your looking for.

also as well, the 'help' patches for each objects are also a great way to really get into the objects properly, rather than just cutting and pasting, and not knowing what it really does. i know you may have been told this a million times

but do also check and search round the forum. you will easily find something.

and what about this "unique" machine. i am interested. does it make tea

hope this helped...

Thanks for the help. I will be sure to check around the forum for help.

And maybe not that "unique" that it makes tea, although that would be really interesting. I actually don't know what interesting means to me but, I would like for it to interest people haha, ya, any ideas?

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi

I was thinking of building a vocoder for an assignment. But I don't know where to begin, any tips or advice will be appreciated...

Thanks

1) Make sure you understand and can explain to someone else what a vocoder is , and what components it would have to contain.
2) Make sure you can find a way to implement each smaller component. Research what is available to you in Max...and what
needs to be put together by you.
3) hmmm...used to be an example vocoder in the earlier MSP examples...it might have been pulled as being a prototype of a commercial product...i can't remember: been a while since I went though the tutorials. How well have you looked through them?

just some thoughts.

Hey ya'll,

Sorry to throw a wet towel on this discussion, but this is the wrong forum for this topic. Unless you are discussing the C/C++ API, please take it to another forum.

Thanks
