Patching in Max6 vs Whack-a-mole (UI mess)

So upgraded a bit ago, but hadn't done much heavy patching until today. Holy moly is it awkward to patch in Max6! There's all these things popping up all over the place, you have to dodge circles, and arrows, and all sorts to get to an object, then when you do, god forbid there's any object elsewhere in your patch a few millimetres apart from it because you're kind of locked into moving it to those places. I can see that snap thing being helpful when getting towards UI stuff, but that's a tiny amount of the patching time you spend.

I figured out how to shrink that circle thing, but I can't see where to turn off object snapping, and that annoying little thing in the middle of cables.

Is anyone enjoying this 'new patching experience'?

Hold down the command or control key while you're dragging to temporarily disable snap-to-object

You can set the object circular wheel to only show on click as well if that helps - it's in the preferences segment in the circular menu

Let us know how you feel next week, we like all feedback! It seems that most people take a while to settle in

Cheers

Is there not a way to disable object snap, but then hold a key to enable it?

Hiding the circle helps a ton, as with objects near each other, it was a mess trying to grab one!

Yeah - turn it off in the Max app prefs, then it works only when you have command/control pressed

Perfect! I must've missed it when I first looked through the prefs.
