please please please help

i have many sfplay~ objects and i want to automatically load a wav file to each one by selecting the folder they are stored in. the .wav files will be named 1.wav 2.wav and so on. i have added an example of a sfplay~ that needs 1.wav. but it doesn’t work any ideas unfortunately i am using max msp 4.6 so i cant open text from max5 if any body creates a patch to solve this problem in max5 could you please send me screen shot. thanx ever so much and sorry but im a newby.

I think using the umenu object and its autopopulating feature is going to be easiest for you, here’s a shot of something I use alot:


So, autopopulate the umenu and then use it to send you read messages

sorry im a real pest i know but i cant work out what the bottom box is. i dont think this will do what i need im trying to build a drum module that will play up to 26 velocity triggered samples for each drum. i have finished the patch apart from the autoloading of each sample. what i need is each sfplay~ 26 in total per drum channel to load the correct sample ie 1.wav to 26.wav into the correct sfplay~ but all i want the user to do is just select the folder that the samples are kept in. see the patch i attached. i am getting together with a producer i know to create drum sample banks but i have thought of a method to make cymbals sound more natural than any drum module i have used, so i have decided to try and create the software (ha ha ha ha ha) ive only ever used max once but im not a bad learner, i plan on turning the patch into a vst and rtas if this is possible and giving the software away free but charging a modest price for the wav files. thanx for your help luke.

Here's a screenshot of a way to autopopulate [umenu] with the contents of a folder; the lower box in the example above packs together the word 'read' with a symbol or collection of symbols, in this case the name of the wavefile. Always check the helpfiles for advice on any object; they are indispensible.
