prepend or append step sequencing-help

i want to be able to manually input data from the coloured toggle boxes into the step sequencer, however ive tried using the append object to manually change the column value so i can play in live (while keeping the row and value the same).

However it just inputs on every value on that line, not when i'm pressing the toggle AND also when it loops it re-reites all data in the pattern

any input or help would be appreciated x

You connected the counter to append. So every time the counter produces a number it'll send it through the append to make a step in the matrix.

yeah, because i want to be abple to play in using the toggles live, i thought that that would change the argument so it wouldnt just keep making one step in the same place in the sequencer.

a simple way to do it:

Max Patch
Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.

The toggle is only used for the first 2 columns. You can copy is change some numbers in the messagebox and use this for the rest of the columns.

There will be a better and more effecient way, but this is the simple solution. Hopefully this will help you further.

heyy :D thanks man, ive carried on with your method but still no joy, is there any way it can be done using only one set of coloured boxes, your way works great for pre programming but for live use, with an xbox controller its impossible.

thanks for all your help so farr, i'm still quite new with max msp

a small change. Hopefuly this will guide you in the direction you want. Again, there's a more efficient way to do it. I'm quite noobish too, we all have to start at the beginning..right.

still no joy, ive been doing a lot of research and the solution could lie with either a zI object or a trigger object. i'm so close its actually frustating.

Do you want the buttons to insert notes at the current playhead location?

I think this may be what you want to achieve. I would still work on making a clearer playhead so you know, visually, where your note is going to end up.
