Is anyone successfully using a black/white version of the Fire-i under Windows XP through directX? Jitter reports "Cannot open capture stream. Could not build preview graph" when trying to open the cam. It works fine in Max under OSX, as well as in the Fire-i application on Windows. Furthermore, another color-version Fire-i works well in Max under Windows.

Could this be a directX problem related to b/w cams? Am I missing a setting in dx.grab? Any suggestion or experience would be greatly appreciated.

I have tried a fresh Windows and Max install (5.1.3), with no luck.

I've got the same problem with my unibrain fire-i BW camera under XP and I've found the solution:

the MS hotfix KB975560 affects DirectShow and jit.dx.grab stopped working with some Unibrain Camera.

You just have to uninstall this Windows update (into the control panel -> add/remove software) and it works again.
