I just upload Pluggo 3.6... I lunched PTLE 6.9 open a session with a pluggo inserted and PTLE crash.

The same if a try to insert a pluggo in a new session.

As stated in the ReadMe, the minimum OS for Pluggo 3.6 (or any 

Universal Binary, not just Cycling's) is OS 10.3.9. I don't recall 

if the ReadMe is explicit about this, and I should double-check, but 

the minimum version of ProTools supported by Pluggo 3.6 is ProTools 7 

(previous versions of ProTools don't support Mach-O or Universal

Protools 7.0 or higher and Mac OS 10.3.9 or higher is required for UB Pluggo.

From a strictly Pluggo point of view, we feel the update is worth it.

We fixed a bunch of bugs in PT, specifically all of the bugs to do with opening pluggo plugins in PT projects and having them actually work without opening the UIs. Bounce to disk is also improved, it now works....

The really *big* fix though, is that we managed to get the plugs into separate categories insted of having them all piled into the "Other" category.

I was imaging that, but I find I little confusion... 

the read me file doesn't talk about PT version, and the web page say: Mac OS X 10.2 or later. I suggest to correct it...

Also PTLE 7.0 cannot run in Mac 10.3.9 It needs 10.4.2...

Anyway thank you for the support, I'll think to upgrade, because I like the Pluggo, and the fixed bugs are really good!

I was imaging that, but I find I little confusion...

For some time I've been trying to make Ambisonic plug-ins. These involve a four-channel B-Format signal. ProTools LE is limited to stereo operation. In PTLE versions 5 and early 6. I did manage to get working plug-ins using send~ and receive~ via a hidden 4-channel bus. An 8-speaker decoder was implemented as four stereo plug-ins. In PTLE later version 6 and 7 with Pluggo 3.54 these still worked, but a saved session did not load properly, and the ouput was muted.

I had rather hoped that this might be solved with Pluggo 3.6, but the decoder plug-ins do not appear in the plug-in list, and attempts to receive audio from the hidden bus result in lots of glitches in the audio. This behaviour is very similar to that experienced with Digital Performer.

Similar multi-channel plug-ins work well with Cubase SX, which seems to have a better multi-channel architecture. The 'hidden bus' idea doesn't work, but it will accept plug-ins with between 1 and 6 inputs and up to 6 outputs.

Have you tried a similar thing with the PluggoBusSends and receives?

In Cubase, you definitely should be able to do this whole thing as just one plugin.

What I'm trying to do is produce and mix Ambisonic audio streams in ProTools, Cubase or any other similar programme. A mono audio track requires a 1-in/4-out B-Format encoding plug-in, a stereo audio track a 2-in/4-out B-Format encoding plug-in. A four-channel B-Format track could have a 4-in/4-out plug-in that allowed for some manipulation of the B-Format signal. These 4-channel B-Format signals can be simply mixed together to make a composite, which then has to be decoded to provide loudspeaker feeds, minimum of four for horizontal work, minimum 6 or 8 for true 3D, so another 4-in/8-out plug-in on the mixing bus. Encoding and decoding are separate processes. An extension of this could supply a 4-in/4-out Ambisonic reverb via another 4-channel bus.

You're right, Cubase does have a good workable architecture, provided that you use 4-channel tracks and 4 or 6-channel busses, and Nuendo should enable extensions of this to higher-order Ambisonics and more loudspeakers. Plug-ins written with this in mind seem to work well.

Logic, ProTools LE, Digital Performer (and as far as I can ascertain, nearly every other programme) have a basic stereo architecture. You can pan to 5.1 or even 7.1 outputs, and there are a few host-specific multi-channel plug-ins, but nothing like the same flexibility offered in Cubase.

Curiously I have had a work-around involving the hidden send~/receive~ busses happening in ProTools LE, even on OS9. The same thing never worked properly in DP, and remained completely mute in Logic (even though the plug-ins loaded without error messages). An 8-channel decoder had to be made as four stereo plug-ins, with another set of hidden send~/receive busses for the last 6 speakers. Things started to get more difficult around PTLE 6.9. I tried Cubase when I had to recommend an Ambisonic production platform for use by a client.

I had all sorts of curious problems when updating to Pluggo 3.6. Despite rebuilding the plug-ins with Max/MSP 4.6.2, all plug-ins alphabetically after mine disappeared. Slowly things have improved, and before sending you any patches I'd like to go through them again to pinpoint the problems. I did try plugsend~ and plugreceive~, which initially improved things, but when reloading the session the problems re-occurred.
