Right now I have been using three computers – 1) a protools system with a DIGI002 to record and playback Multitrack audio (10 channels) 2) I then route this to a Layla via Optical out on the DIGI002 into Max on a PC to Analyze the individual audio tracks 3) Then I send the MIDI Data generated from the audio tracks to a g5 to Jitter for video control.
Question: Is there an easier way to do this? I would like to get my system down to two computers. Can somehow send multitrack audio from the DIGI002 to Max on the same machine? I have not had luck with soundflower, rewire etc on this – unless I’m doing it wrong which could be a possibility.
My other thought was to build an RTAS pluggin to analyze the audio sigs right in protools and send the midi info out. Possible? I’m sure it is but I just wanted to gather some suggestions/solutions before I proceed….

This should be an option, I ususally go that route, unless I have a
second soundcard in the same computer. You didn’t tell what kind of
computer ProTools runs on. If its a PC you could probably run Max on the
Layla and ProTools on the Digi002 within the same box. I did this
succesfully on a Mac with Digi002 and Motu 828…
