Relative Tap Tempo

Oct 02 2013 | 8:25 am

Hi all – please see attached a project I have been working on as an interesting way to control tempo of a session on the fly.

It it calculates tempo change relative to current tempo as playback is running. If you tap early it will speed up and if you tap late it will slow down. It also has a colour feedback ranging from green for early, yellow for on the beat and red for late.

Most elements have explanations in info view.

Please let me know what you think… (or if you would prefer a txt version)

Hi Tim,

This is a super Tool!

I’ve adressed keystrokes to Nudge +/- …now I can nudge the tempo now on the spot in +/- 1 BPM steps if the song feels too slow. A life saver!

As I use Ableton as a drum machine with footcontroller live on stage following feature would be really cool:

– If one could nudge the tempo i +/- 1x BPM steps with one button of the footcontroller.

If you tap faster then the current tempo it would nudge up 1 BPM with every tap. If you tap slower then the current tempo it would nudge down 1 BPM with every tap.

Could call it The Nudge ;)

Smile, Uli
