Just in case this is of use to anyone else, here's the method I finally figured out to modify an html file inside Max. (I'm building a patch to record & upload video as automatically as possible).

This is after I discovered [jit.textfile] which, unlike [text], will handle html.

Obviously you'd have to modify the patch depending on the # of lines in the html, the particular lines you want to change, and the bit of each line that you want to modify (by changing the content of the [sprintf] objects.

I'm intending to upload modified copies of a single simple page. The changes are to the page title, the name of the video file that the page will play (the file is uploaded to a specific location on the server, which is referenced in the html), and a small bit of copy in a text box on the page.

I'll attach the html file to this post, so that you can try the patch out with the file it was designed for.
