I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on something i've been trying to solve for a while

Attached is a small part of a bigger M4L patch i'm working on

Basically it generates bangs either from sync (1n 2n 4n etc - from live's transport via plugsync) or freq (hz) from a phasor, i.e. switching between the two clock sources when the freq / sync button is hit

going from sync to freq is always smooth since the freq is updated by the current sync time and the phase reset with it too

however going from freq to sync (phasor to plugsync) isn't

Change the dial from 4n 2n etc to be just separate buttons for each one, and have a time parameter for the time it takes to get to that sync speed (4n 2n etc)

I want to make whatever the Freq (hz) it's on take X time to change it's speed and phase so that it can become locked in with the new Sync time (and in phase with the live transport)

I'm thinking maybe i need to re-think the whole thing to be driven off just one phasor however i seem to recall having a reason not to do that in the first place

perhaps it's simpler to take a few steps back and present it differently

i want to make a clock generator that can accurately generate bangs in sync with ableton's transport. with an option to speed them up out of sync to super fast speeds, but then a way to come back smoothly over a fixed time X from total unsynced madness back into sync with ableton's transport again. smoothly is the important bit, it needs to kindof morph back into place

so in a real life setting something like this

hit 'sync 16' button locking it to abletons transport at 16ths, be sending out 16th's on the nose, be able to mess with live's bpm and the 16ths still be synced, turn up the freq knob and come out of sync with ableton to super fast speeds, hit the 'sync 8th' button, have the pulse slowly slow down to the same speed but also shift it's phase so that it slowly comes into lock with ableton (over predefined, fixed time X)

Another way to look at the problem maybe would be to have a 'phasor~ 4n @lock 1' locked to transport with a 'rate~ @sync off' coming off it for speeding up and down away from it, coming back to whole number integers on the 'rate~ @sync off' would give me the speeds i need but throws me out of phase with the original phasor

i know i could use the @sync lock, or @sync cycle but both of these effect the smoothness of the ramp to higher speeds which in this case is really important for it to be musical (it keeps jumping back into phase)

i think what i need is some sort of clever way to compensate for the phase difference between the two, but for it to do it using only the multiplier on the 'rate~ @sync off', like mixing records and using only the pitch fader to nudge the record forward and backwards..

really not sure where to begin with working the maths out for that
