soft-edge projection

hi everybody,

has anyone of you experience with softedge-projection?
i am working on a softedge-patch, please see the attachment below.

tested it out with several projectors and the result is OK, but NOT PERFECT. my questions are:

1. in general: is it possible to do real perfect softedge projection with 2 projectors - without ANY visible ugly blending area in the middle?

2. if yes - what is wrong in my patch? it should be logic...

thanks for your help!

it seems to look good

can you make a picture of the ugly things?
you have to rig the projectors very well to do good softedge

maybe use a jit.gl.slab for the edge blending

there is an example patch

max5/examples/jitter-examples/render/slab-helpers/transition/tr.edgeblend.jxs-help.maxpat

there is one thingy thing wrong in you patch ...
clean it up
use segmented patch coords

i know the edgeblend slab but this one does not seem to be a good solution because the gradient is linear only... tried it out.

today got the hint to read the following article: http://local.wasp.uwa.edu.au/~pbourke/texture_colour/edgeblend

very helpful!

first of all i found out that my soft edge area was simply to small for a perfect result. so i increased it and it's much better now but still not perfect, it's really tricky...

Hello, Do you have a good result now? I've try with the tr.overlap.jxs but there still a luminance.
For the moment i dont know how to write my own jxs but i see that the link to edgeblend is very usefull. Do you have any result?
I'm looking for a new script, better than tr.overlap.
Ciao .
