I recently switched to Max5, and have just noticed a peculiar behaviour with
When I go to select an item from the umenu contents, in a patch on my second
(external) monitor – the menu contents keeps appearing in my primary
monitor, and not as an extension of the umenu object on my second screen.
I tested this with the help patches too – same result.
This is by no means the end of the world – but just curious if anyone at
Cycling had noticed this?
> do you mean something like frequency shuffling?
Yeah! Thanks for that – its exactly what I was looking for.
Is that a patch you made yourself or it in the Max documentation?
I just need to compact it a little more so I can control it with say four
sliders or something -then its going to make a great little object that I
could tack onto the end of each of my sample players.
If anyone has any suggestions on how this patch might be further developed –
your suggestions would be most welcome.
It’s one of mine, based on Blumlein/Gerzon techniques. It can sound really weird (sounds just behind your ear for example) on quality monitors in an anechoic/semianechoic room when you overdo the boosting/cutting (e.g., +-12dB). I did have an abstraction somewhere that kept the two filtergraph~s as perfect "reciprocals" (i.e., same turnover frequency and equal but opposite gain). I can’t find it but I seem to remember it was quite simple.
