Still no love with 4.6.2...
I've had no luck with Max 4.6 on my iBook (G4, 1.33 Ghz, 1 GB ram.) I can
use 4.5.7 - no problems, but have had many issues with missing file paths
and extreme instability using the 4.6 beta, 4.6, 4.6.1, now 4.6.2.
To troubleshoot, I just re-installed MaxMSP 4.6 - removed all my Max 4 &
Max 4.6 prefs beforehand so I would be creating all new prefs. Afterwards,
launched a patch (one I've used for ages, consumes about 30% of the CPU when
it's working hard, played with it for a few seconds - kaboom - Max
4.6.2will crash, and I can easily repeat it. I can do the same thing
in the same
patch in 4.5.7 and there's no problem, it keeps going, no issues at all.
Going through the MaxMSP crash log, the error is always the same -
EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (0x0002.) I'm happy using 4.5.7, but am about to get
into Jitter and was hoping to use 4.6. Am I out of luck?
