Hi!
My question is:
what is the best USB 2.0 High Resolution Webcam for OS X 10.5?

There are few topics about that, but they are quite old. What should I buy today, that would work well with Jitter?

Logitech 910 model is very good but only for video, audio is an issue (samplerate problems).

ok, doesnt matter for me with the audio since dont think any of the inputs of the cams are good enough.

I want one with good wide angle and would be nice as well if it works good in low light. any tips for this or is logitech 910 good enough for this?

for me has a great sensor
works good on dark conditions, fast
only issue is when add a hot usb or extension usb cable
slows down a lot

Did somebody try to turn it into an IR webcam, removing the IR filter and placing a film instead ?

I am interested in making a 'night vision' camera, but, more important than resolution, i need a good framerate and SHORT LATENCY (under Os X)

Did someone have a good experience with this type of constraint ? short latency, IR-hackable, good framerate ?

on mac, still better to use firewire.
invest in a unibarin (100$, 640x40 at 25fps http://i.imgur.com/7SJlH.png) or ptgrey (275$, 752x480 at 60fps, http://i.imgur.com/HKbxC.png)

cons
* resolution 640x480
* 100-270$
* if cable more then 10m, $$$

pros
* low latency
* resolution is enough for vision (tracking, keying).
* comes in b/w version, means no bayer mask for better IR
* esay to replace lens
* native drivers

other (cheap) option is the sony PS3 Eye with the macam driver http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/
or the kinect color.infra channel.

my data might be off as i try to avoid osx, but thats my experiance.

This thread is more than a year old.

Curious if there are any new highly recommended HD webcams w/ wide angles for both Win/Mac that are out in the market today?

Thank you for your time.
