Therapist seeking help for brain injury through looping
I am a speech and language pathologist.
I work with folks with neurological disorders.
They often cannot monitor their speech in real time.
They can monitor and correct their speech if they can hear a quick playback or echo of their voice.
I have tried DAF assistant which is a delayed audio feedback app for people who stutter but it will only play back 320 msec...enough for one syllable.
I need a way to record them and for them to hear themselves played back.
I have tried pressing record and then play on voice memo but it takes to long and there is too much fumbling.
Can I do this with cycling '74 max?
Sincerely,
Mark
Yes, this sort of thing is quite possible with Max/MSP. Do you have any more detailed requirements?
Definitely possible in as many configurations as you can imagine. Some other requirements to know might be:
--whether the user needs to press "Record" or if it's audio-triggered
--how long it will record for (and whether a long silence will turn off the recording automatically)
--whether it plays back automatically or if they should press a button
--whether the sound clips are saved to disk
--others?
All of these are doable, and in fact, it's nearly as easy to make them user-settable in the application itself (user can select whether things work automatically etc.)
Sounds like a great project, perfect for Max.
Maybe you just need something like this:
Press Key 1 to Record
Press Key 2 for playback
