Because I couldn’t get into the book release party for the San
Francisco Tape Music Center last night (Fire Marshals were kicking &
keeping people out), I had a few hours available, and because I was
already in a Tape Music Center frame of mind, I decided to make a
replica of the Time Lag Accumulator tape delay system as used by Terry
Riley, Pauline Oliveros, Ramon Sender and others at the Tape Music
I’m not sure that I’m 100% happy with the way the interpolation works
on delay time changes, but I don’t know when I’ll get around to
revisiting it, so I better put it up now.
Hopefully the patch is self explanatory, but if not, ask away.
Sweet! I love the tape deck pictslider.
After playing with this I just had to dig out a recording of that legendary Fripp & Eno Peel session, that, according to legend, John played backwards, not realising that unlike the BBC, most record companies keep tapes ‘tail out’.
Eno apparently rang up to try to tell him, but the BBC switchboard didn’t believe it was him!
Anyway, a fine noise maker,

Thanks! Doing the graphics for the tape decks took most of the time on
this patch, followed by the html for the embedded "doc". The actual
MSP code in this patch is pretty trivial, although I did play with
tuning the tables for the "Era" slider for a while.
I love the Eno story. I wonder if it’s really true.
