Unibrain Fire-i XGA

I bought a Unibrain Fire-i XGA camera so I could use a nice CS-Mount lens and open up a greater range of possibilities with resolution, etc. I'm finding that I don't have the ability to select various capture resolutions via the video settings dialog, nor can I control the framerate. It seems to run around 1-2 fps no matter what I try. I tried the IOXperts industrial driver, and while it gives me a few more options, I still have no way of setting the IIDC mode or format (ie, resolution, etc.)

Does anyone else have experience with this camera? Any solutions, or am I overlooking something? I searched and saw someone mention wrapping libdc1394.....could be a solution I guess...if I had time

10.5.6, Max 5

Thanks,
Jack

I have several cameras of this type and they all are working grate. If you change the dim attribute in jit.qt.grabe you also change the camera resolution (640X480,800X600,!012X768).Frame rate depends on resolution , colormode, shutter... To understand how the camera works use the unibrains Firei (PC) software that cam with the camera.

I managed to grab 8 unibrain cameras on one computer.I have try it on mac pro and on power mac g5. For more fire wire cameras you need extra firewire ports(fire wire card). On one port you can connect 2 cameras using FireRepeater.
FPS also depends on size of resolution and how many cameras you have connected ... but otherwise, yes they all work in real time.
