Has anyone used Jitter or another program referenced through Jitter to get any sort of video morphing effect. Basically, I will have a video projection that will have projected heads turning based on the location of someone in a room. I can map the direction the heads are facing in the video to the proximity of the persons location but I need some sort of twain effect to fill in any gaps between whatever section of video I’m jumping to. Anyways, hopefully my question makes sense, any info at all would be very helpful!
Hm.. just a longshot, but would it be possible maybe to use jit.repos in combination with jit.xfade…
a spatial map based on picture 1, slowly fading to a spatial map based on picture 2 as input to jit.repos… (with the original pictures you are deforming also slowly fading from a to b)
I can’t really try anything at the moment, but that’s what popped to mind (or maybe something with jit.plume). I will give this a go tonight unless it’s a silly idea to start with :)
I’m very curious to see how these freeframe plugins work, but I can’t
seem to get them to work….
I’ve downloaded several sets of plugins from freeframe.org but they
don’t seem to load… neither /HD/library/application support/
FreeFrame or user/library/application/FreeFrame seem to work nor does
putting a FreeFramePlugins in Max ‘ search path…
No effect is loaded when using the @fx attribute (error in max
window : ‘pluginname’ not found)
Sending the ‘reload’ message does not give an error though… but
does crash max occasionally
Max 4.5.5, jitter 1.5, X 10.4.3.
Is the morphing working yet :-)
You should update to 4.5.7 and 1.5.2.
There have been a couple of bug fixes, especially related to freeframe
it doesn’t work here either… jit.freeframe seems to find the effect
directory but the effect menu doesn’t populate with "geteffectlist".
After looking for the plugin directory manually, attempting to load
an effect results in:
 error: jit.freeframe: effect System:/Library/Application Support/
FreeFrame/BloomAE not found
print: loadeffect System:/Library/Application Support/FreeFrame/
osx.4.5 – max 4.5.7 – jitter 1.5.2

Hey, i haven’t had a chance to post in awhile but when you refer to "picture one" and "picture two" are you referring to the last frame of the first clip and the first frame of the second clip.. i’m really not familiar with jitter at all yet and don’t know if there’s an easy way to handle the transition or if you’re saying that that effect is specifically meant for still images. i want to have video clips so that the viewer will see the eyes of the projected people blink and see them breathing if the viewer is standing in one place in the room for a length of time.. anyways, if this isn’t an issue and your advice will still work with video clips please let me know.. sorry, i wish i were more well versed in jitter.. but any help would be amazing
Correct me if I misunderstand.
You have pre-recorded video of say one person projected on a screen.
The image is static, but when a visitor in standing still, or in one
place for some time, the image comes to live and starts breathing and
blinking and this blinking and breathing is something you want to
accomplish by morphing?
Is there a special reason you don’t want to : start playing a
different video of that person where he breathes and blinks, or
slowly fade between several frames?
Where the smileys represent 3 stages in blinking : 8-) >> :-) >>
Since a morph is really nothing more than a complicated fade between
two images where you gradually fade and distort each frame into the
next… If the start and goal of the morph are not all that
different, morphing doesn’t really have that much effect I’d think…
