I try to edit live video from my webcam and send it to another application. So I could have the video (coming from max) as an input in skype....

With jit.qt.videout you can send a video to an external camera, but is it possible to make this in the computer.

I imagine something like soundflower for video. Take the output and give it to another program (skype...)

the closest thing that comes to mind is Syphon: 

 but you cannot create a proxy input device for Skype with syphon, the application has to support it.

Possibly with Camtwist? Syphon routes video around but probably not into Skype.
