Has anybody managed to get Max running on linux via "virtual box" or "wine" - if so any tips ? Could you use jack to communicate between other programs running on the linux OS and the virtual OS ?

HI Augustine, i tried at the times of Max 5. Max runtime kind of worked on Linux but i got severals error about the jack/alsa audio drivers. I think you should try the Max Runtime version 6.

I'll try to do some more Linux testing when i'ìll have some more spare time this year.
