In trying to create a simple note generator I am unable to change the timbre of the sound. I have included pgmout into which I have tried different values, but no matter what, the audio produced always sounds like gun fire sound effects for an 80s console (although they do change in pitch when I change that value, so it is just the timbre that is stuck).

I have even copied across code I know on other computers sounds like a piano, but here the same patch does reverts to the weird percussiony timbre.

Is there something in the inspector that I could have changed accidentally that is effecting other patches? And how the heck do I stop change it?!

have you yet made sure that your device can read program change, and if you are using the right channel and port values for the pgmout object?
