I need to send in a material list proposal for an installation work I am building. I need a 4-channel installation and the room is 8 by 10 (but can be bigger eventually). I will need 4 big speakers and subwoofer and 4 small speakers to be placed in an enclosed isolated space, as a kind of miniature version of the big room.

Money is not really an issue, quality is more important but I do want to send in a realistic proposal.

That' s a very vague description of your needs...

What type of speaker do you think of: studio monitor type, PA, ...?

Money not an issue is a dangerous statement when it comes to audio systems. A speaker can range from sub €100 to €10.000 or more.

Given the size of the room you could think of the larger Genelec monitors like the 8050B. Near-field studio monitors aren't really designed for larger spaces though. They mostly expect the user seated close-by.

PA systems are meant for larger spaces but the extra power often comes at the expense of detail. Next to my art practice I run an AV rental and production business. We use lots of PL-Audio equipment: 

 Good quality and relatively affordable. For indoor installations (and smaller outdoor stages) I mostly use 1 or more PL-Audio Gorilla DSP 3800 15" subs with F121 12" tops. One sub contains the amplifiers for itself and for 2 tops. Packs a massive punch with good clarity. This is a very compact set but you would likely not use its full power in a 8x10m room. PL-Audio also has tiny systems that pack a nice punch for small setups.

For flexible surround and other installations it can be useful to use powered speakers. I recently had good experiences with the QSC K range. We own Mackie SRM450 that we use as stage/DJ monitors. First gen, still better than the generations that came later in the SRM range but outclassed by newer competitor's offerings like QSC and RCF.
