Tried searching how to optimize my laptop, but there just came a bunch of optimizations of jitter stuff.

This is of course very handy also, but I'm thinking of pampering my laptop a bit and I'm not sure, where I would see most result. Should I upgrade my RAM and how would I experience this in an max/msp performance/programming og should I focus on my hardrive?

Or is my computer fine as is, and maybe any upgrade would just be a waste of money...

I'm a musician and haven't got enough experience with the innards of a computer, so any help or advice would be welcome.

Yeah, I figured, doing both would be the way to go :)

I'm just trying to understand, how each upgrade is benificial.

I use my laptop in two ways. One is programming and recording and editing music (mainly protools and ableton) and the other is performing, using max for sampling and manipulating sounds and also as realtime effects in my guitar signal chain.

How would each upgrade improve my experience in each scenario?

I'm also pretty sure, that it is not easy to give a clear answer, but any info on the subject would be appreciated :)
