transparent background

hi there,

Im pretty new to jitter and got a little problem thats driving me really cracy, and couldnt figure it out by my own.

im doing a little interactive animation of good old ludwig van beethoven in a cartoonlike style.
cuttet the different body parts in photoshop to animate them seperatly in jitter later and saved it in .gif format with transparent background.

heres the point: is there any possiblity to show a picture in jitter with transparent background? any object like jit.qt.movie ore else with this feature?

if i import the pictures with fpic from max it works, the background is transparent. but i need the rota and anchor functions from jitter so theres no way for me to do it with pfic.
also tryied to play with the alpha channel of the 4 plane matrix but could only do blends and thats not what im looking for.

really hope someone can help me, need to do the work for my studies next week and time is getting close.

thanks,

Michael

do it in GL! alphas are maintained quite easily with
jit.gl.videoplane @blend_enable 1.

thanks for the reply joshua!

if i do it in gl with jit.gl.videoplane and blend_enable its now possible to turn the background grey, but not transparent at all.
I want to overlap cuttet out pictures invisible.
Tried .gif and .png files with different settings and transparency set on, not working. tried arround for hours
but just cant figure it out.

that ludwig van needs some moving!

okay, here is the test patch. also included a real, original beetoven head to work with. just overlap it with your picture of choice:

Max Patch
Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.

okay, im thankfull for every hint in the right direction!
