triggering applescripts inside MAX.

I want to trigger an applescript directly from MAX. Is there an object that achieves this?
Also, is there a way to send a keystroke directly to an application without it having to be focused.
The idea here is to set up my iTunes library as a DJ track browser, I press a button on my midi controller and it loads the corresponding .als file into Ableton.
