Trying to escape iLok install default!

Hello,

I use both Max 5 and 4 concurrently, and was reinstalling Max 4 due to problems with a corrupted object.

On the install, i forgot to uncheck the iLok option (i don't use iLok, for all the obvious reasons).

However, the installer then failed (since i have no iLok), and the option to authenticate without iLok is now removed from my system.

Even worse, this has ALSO affected my Max 5 license and is blocking me from opening the Max 5 software, and Max for Live, insisting on an iLok (even tho i have already authorised Max 5 and M4L using the response mechanism...)

I figured i could uninstall the PACE / iLok extensions, but there are none in my system - it seems that it is just the installer that is now locked into the iLok option, blocking all use of Cycling products.

This seems yet another invasive and unnecessary aspect of using iLok - and one that i can't see how to resolve...

Does anyone know how i can get around this issue?

Hi David,

In the future, please try not to double post to both the Forums and Support. We look at both very closely.

FOR THE RECORD, although Max/MSP 4.6.3 and Jitter 1.6.3 is not officially supported on Snow Leopard, it may work fine.

You may need to install the latest PACE drivers *after* installing Max 4.6, as the version that Max/MSP 4.6.3 uses is outdated.

Some users are experiencing a 'failed install' at the end of the installation.

When this happens, Max actually gets installed ok; it is the PACE extensions that do not.

So, after finishing the Max/MSP 4.6.3 installation, you may need to do a clean install of the PACE drivers. First you will need to remove any of these files you are able to find:
/System/Library/Extensions/PACESupport.kext
/System/Library/Extensions/PACESupport2.kext
/System/Library/Extensions/PACESupportFamily.kext
/Library/StartupItems/PACESupport/
/Library/Application Support/PACE Anti-Piracy/

Then download and install the latest InterLok extensions.

These can be found at:
http://paceap.com/dldrvr.html

This should get most people up and running with Max/MSP 4.6.3 and 10.6+, but please understand that this configuration is not supported.
