Trying to record multi channel output from max: network audio? local audio recording
I have Max on my laptop and I'm looking into recording the output using multiple channels and not just in stereo as I have been doing
I have Logic running on my big iMac and one scenario would be to send the audio to that. It seems crazy in this day and age that I would have to convert it to analog and back in order to do this (i.e. the obvious solution - audio interfaces on both machines). I've found Dante ( https://www.audinate.com/products/software/dante-virtual-soundcard) which seems like one possible option (although I'll need to use a USB ethernet adaptor on my Macbook pro)
Option two seems to be recording locally. I *really* don't want to install logic pro on my laptop, it takes up a crazy amount of disk space. Audacity does do multiple channel and using jack audio I can record the output - but I can't monitor what I'm doing! I guess options here would more mad routing with Jack - or can i use Max with multiple devices and make a rough stereo monitor mix inside my patch for me to listen to while recording? All the things I've poked at in this area seem very fiddly
Does anyone have any experience of any of this stuff they would be willing to share?
why not use max to record? IIRC you can do [sfrecord~ 16], if you wanted to.
ah - brilliant! Yes -that's just what I'm after. I'd missed that
thank you!
and maybe you'll like to use [adoutput~] also (with caution.)
I am also trying to record a 4 channel performance. I am coming out in 4 channels to play a live granulation system, but i would like to record the performance inside of max so i took an sfrecord object and put in 4 inputs and connect everything where it corresponds, I also copied to meters, so far I am having signal in 4 of them channels but somehow the recording is empty every time
